On September 1st I reopened my studio for in-person lessons after transitioning my studio online in March. Online lessons have been an important option for students who need to reschedule. New students do better online if have some background on the piano. Beginners really need to be in-person.
In-Person Lesson Procedures
My studio is modified to maintain health safety. This background picture is the new studio setup.
Masks are required for everyone (including myself). I take everyone's temperatures using a non-touch forehead thermometer. Masks may or may not be required during the lesson at the discretion of myself and the student/parent.
My grand pianos are about 7 feet apart which allows me to teach a good distance from the student piano. Masks are worn when I need to approach the student piano. A 15-minute break between students (excludes sibling lessons) allows me to sanitize surfaces; i.e., doors, doorknobs, piano keys and bench, restroom, etc. The student plus one parent may be present for the lesson unless arrangements are made with me in advance.
Online Lesson Procedures
Online lessons are on the Zoom platform and only offered to those with some amount of piano knowledge or lessons in the past. I do not take beginners online. Itemized instructions will be given to those interested in this option, e.g., electronics choice, computer connection, internet speeds, etc.
